TORONTO, April 26, 2026 — The Viet Youth Readiness Hub (VYRH), a youth initiative of the Canada Vietnam Cultural & Educational Council (CVCEC), has been selected for the Leading Urban Change program at the University of Toronto’s School of Cities.

VYRH is one of 16 initiatives chosen for this year’s cohort. Through the program, the CVCEC team will work with urban planning experts and policy leaders, public-system representatives from Toronto, Mississauga, Calgary and Peel Region, and urban organizations from across Canada.

The School of Cities designed the program for teams putting real-world change into practice. It focuses on the tools and processes needed to turn a promising idea into a lasting solution.

During the program, CVCEC plans to:

  • develop its model of Vietnamese language and culture education into policy solutions that support long-term integration;
  • improve how it helps newcomer families navigate life in Canadian cities;
  • build a platform for Vietnamese youth to contribute their perspectives to Canada’s social and civic life.

CVCEC thanked parents, partners and community members for their support and said it will share what it learns from the program.
