At the Canada Vietnam Cultural & Educational Council (CVCEC), we believe that Canada’s strength lies in the rich tapestry of its diverse communities. Cultural identity is not only a bridge to our roots—it is a vital resource for contributing to the collective story of our nation.
Today, we are honored to share that the CVCEC team was invited by The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Canadian Heritage, to attend the official National Asian Heritage Month celebration. This monumental event served as a platform to celebrate the profound stories that have helped build Canada into the inclusive nation it is today.
A Celebration of Connection and Continuity
The event was rooted in deep respect for the land and the people who steward it. We were moved by the opening protocol led by Elder Verna McGregor, which beautifully underscored the interconnectedness of all communities in Canada.
For the CVCEC team, this gathering was more than a ceremony; it was a profound acknowledgement of our place within the Canadian social fabric. The celebration specifically dedicated space to honor the sacrifices of our ancestors while celebrating the innovations of today’s generation of young Asian-Canadian leaders.
Recognizing the Vietnamese-Canadian Voice
A highlight of the event for us was the warm reception from the Vietnamese-Canadian Member of Parliament, who served as the event's Master of Ceremonies. Her passionate address to the Vietnamese-Canadian community was a powerful reminder of our resilience and our growing influence in Canada’s civic and political life.
It was an inspiring moment to see our community standing shoulder-to-shoulder with other Asian-Canadian groups, collectively affirming our commitment to the values of peace, multiculturalism, and shared prosperity.
Looking Ahead: Our Commitment to the "Canadian Mosaic"
Participating in this National celebration reaffirms CVCEC’s strategic focus: we are here to support the Vietnamese community in Canada as they transition from "finding their place" to "leading the conversation."
Whether through our Heritage programs or our leadership initiatives, we remain committed to empowering the next generation of Vietnamese-Canadians to contribute their unique perspectives to Canada’s future.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Department of Canadian Heritage for this invitation and for fostering an environment where our stories are heard, valued, and integrated into the broader Canadian narrative.
